Leasing Of Intellectual Property And Similar Products Companies in Malaysia

Leasing of intellectual property and similar products companies in Malaysia is governed by the Malaysian Leasing Act 1967. The Act provides for the registration of leases and the regulation of the business of leasing.

The Act applies to leases of intellectual property and similar products which have a term of not more than seven years. A lease of intellectual property or a similar product is defined in the Act as a lease of any right, title or interest in or under any patent, trade mark, design, copyright, plant variety right or other like property.

A person who carries on the business of leasing intellectual property or similar products in Malaysia must be registered as a leasing company under the Act.

The Registrar of Leasing Companies is responsible for the registration of leasing companies and the regulation of the business of leasing in Malaysia.
